No drive in the New Zealand countryside is complete without seeing the the unmistakable shape of a New Zealand Kingfisher perched high up on a phone line. Kingfishers are difficult birds to approach and all these images were taken from a hide. Kingfishers use the same perches again and again, so once one has been found, and your hide set up, it is just a case of being patient.
